About Dr. Chodosh
My name is Lowell Chodosh ND, LAc. and I am a naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist in Portland, Oregon. I graduated from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1992 and the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 1996 both schools in Portland, Oregon. I am currently licensed to practice both professions in the state of Oregon.
The history of my practice has evolved over the years but most notably I had been working from 1997-2006 at the Portland Alternative Health Center (PAHC) in downtown Portland. In 2006, I began a private practice out of my home, had worked briefly in a downtown office in 2008 and currently have established a low cost clinic on SE Morrison.
Included in those 9 years at PAHC I began working with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C patients providing herbal, nutritional and acupuncture therapy that helped support their immune systems and liver health respectively. In the last 4 of those years I was placed in a position that more fully utilized my training as a general medical primary care physician. In that capacity I was given the duties of caring for and monitoring various other medical conditions of the homeless, indigent and uninsured population of Portland in cooperation with on-staff Western medical providers, while continuing to care for my HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis patients. I served them as best I could depending on the financial limitations of the clients and their compliance and follow up with their treatment protocol.
During these years our natural pharmacy expanded due to increased donations and when appropriate more extensive naturopathic modalities were utilized including homeopathy, cranio-sacral work, vitamin and mineral injections and intravenous therapy, neural therapy, dietary counseling and herbal and nutritional therapy. As with any healing art, the cooperation and trust established with the practitioner helped further any benefit and long term gain
Over those last years I had expanded on my cranio-sacral work to assist me in balancing my patients energetically. Through the testing of supplements and/or homeopathics as well as acupuncture, I have used this cranio-sacral energetic framework to help alleviate symptoms, guide the use of therapies and move the patient more towards balancing them in the body, mind and spirit.
It is an ongoing discovery about not only the capabilities of this technique but also the depth of perception that can be attained in helping balance the body, mind and spirit.
